The address
Write in English or in Spanish, whichever is easier. If you are writing about a specific page, paste its address: this site has 996 water pages and 168 season rules, and “the trout page” is not enough to find the one you mean.
What is worth writing about
Something here is wrong. A licence fee that does not match what the agency charges, a season date that opens on the wrong day, a gauge attached to the wrong water, a free fishing day we have stale. This is the most valuable message this address receives, and it does not need to be polite or detailed: a link and “this is wrong” is enough for us to go and read the source.
An agency has announced something. Fee schedules and free fishing days are published when the agency feels like it, often in a press release that never reaches the page we read. Kansas and South Dakota both announced their 2026 free fishing days months before we found them. If you see one, a link saves us weeks.
We are missing a water. If you fish somewhere with a public gauge that we do not cover, say which water and roughly where. Coverage grows by request more sensibly than by guessing.
You run a guide service, a club, a park or a tourist office. If a page here would be useful to your readers, or yours to ours, say so. That conversation is welcome and is answered by a person.
You are a journalist. The licence fee and season data here is verified state by state with the date each source was read, and can be cited or checked. If you need a figure explained or a methodology question answered before deadline, say the deadline in the first line.
What happens to a correction
It gets checked against the agency, the statute or the instrument — not against the compiled list that caused the error in the first place. If you are right, the page is fixed and the mistake goes into the public verification log with the date, what it said, what it should have said and how it got there. That log currently holds 31 entries, and 15 of them are our own errors, including several found the same week they were published. Nothing is quietly edited.
If you turn out to be wrong, you will get an answer explaining why, with the source. That happens and it is not a waste of anyone’s time: several of the entries in that log started as a message that looked wrong and was not.
How long a reply takes
This is one person in Spain, not a team, so the honest answer is a few days for most messages and longer in a bad week. A correction to a live figure jumps the queue: if a fee or a date on this site is wrong, it is wrong for everyone reading it, and that gets fixed before anything else is answered.
What not to send
Offers to submit the site to search engines, directory listings, guest posts, link exchanges and anything sold by the article: none of it is bought here, as the editorial policy says. The one message the catch form has ever received was exactly that, from a domain registered to look like ours, and it went where it belonged.
