Since 2025 the recreational limit has been one bushel per person per day and two bushels per boat, and no crab smaller than five inches point to point may be taken. The base recreational saltwater licence covers two pots; a five-dollar enhanced endorsement raises that to five. Pots must be marked with yellow floats carrying the owner’s name.
What to actually do
We have not found a published closed season for recreational blue crab in South Carolina, so this page does not claim one and the calendar band is left blank rather than filled in green. That is a deliberate choice: an empty band means nobody has published a date, which is not the same as the fishery being open all year, and we would rather say so than guess on your behalf.
