Georgia used to have a trout season with a famous opening day. It does not any more, and that is the single most useful thing to know about fishing the north Georgia mountains.
Every season we have verified in Georgia
One block per rule, because a single species can be on two calendars in the same state depending on the water. The band under each heading is the legal season; the row under it is what our own data says the fish are doing.
Trout — All designated trout waters
The regulations state it flatly: "All designated trout waters are now open year round." The old last-Saturday-in-March opener is gone. What remains are water-specific restrictions rather than a statewide season, and those are where the real rules live.
Trout — Delayed harvest streams
Catch-and-release with artificial lures only from November 1 to May 14 on the delayed harvest streams. The Conasauga River watershed runs its own artificial-only restriction from November 1 to the last Saturday in March. Named waters carry their own size limits on top: 22 inches on Waters Creek, 16 inches on Noontootla Creek.

What the water is doing while the season is open
This is the part an agency page will not tell you. The temperature row above is the seasonal curve we use for the 8 of 22 Georgia waters we track on a southern reservoir hybrid profile, and it is why an opening date and a fishable date are not the same thing. A season that opens while the water is still in the forties is a legal invitation, not a biological one: the fish are there, they are just not eating on your schedule yet. Cross the legal band against the activity row before you book the day off.
