The Douglas at Tipperary Crossing
The Douglas River is a spring-fed tributary of the Daly in the Douglas-Daly country south of Darwin, a clear stream of paperbark and pandanus pools with hot springs upstream at Douglas Hot Springs; Tipperary Crossing is a crossing on its lower reaches toward the Daly. Species and seasons
Barramundi move up the Douglas from the Daly and hold in the deeper pools; sooty grunter are the everyday fish of the runs. The Northern Territory has no general closed season for barramundi, but the NT Government publishes management zones and seasonal rules for some river systems, including the Daly; check whether a reach falls inside one before keeping fish. Where to fish it
The crossings and the camping areas of the Douglas-Daly give access to the Douglas, and the pools are fished from the bank in the dry season, when the roads are open. Estuarine crocodiles can be anywhere in Top End rivers: keep back from the water.
