Lock 3 and Overland Corner
Lock 3 holds the River Murray near Overland Corner in the South Australian Riverland, between Waikerie and Barmera, a reach of high cliffs, lagoons and red gum flats where the historic Overland Corner Hotel stands above the river. Golden perch, callop in South Australia, are the fish of the reach, taken along the snags and the cliff faces; Murray cod hold in the deep holes; redfin school in the lagoons and backwaters; carp are common. Where to fish it
The river reserves near Overland Corner and Lock 3 give bank access, and a boat from the Riverland ramps covers the weir pool, the cliffs and the backwaters. The cliff faces with deep water at their base and the snags at the mouths of the lagoons are the callop and cod water, and a slow drift along the cliffs with bait is how the locals fish them.

Overland Corner is reached from the Sturt Highway between Waikerie and Barmera, and Barmera and Berri have supplies, accommodation and ramps. The historic hotel above the river is the landmark.
