The lake
Warren Reservoir is a SA Water storage on the South Para River near Williamstown in the Barossa hills, one of the first Adelaide-region reservoirs the state opened to recreation in 2019 under its reservoirs program, with shore fishing from designated areas, walking trails and kayaking, all under a free online permit and the reservoir’s hours. It is a small, steep lake in the hills, and the Bureau of Meteorology’s gauge on the reservoir supplies the level and the 30-day chart on this page.
Species and seasons
Native fish have been stocked into the reservoir under the state’s program, golden perch and Murray cod among the releases the program has announced, and redfin and carp are the resident fish; what has been stocked and when is on the SA Water reservoirs page and PIRSA’s stocking notices linked here, and this site does not add to the list. The natives fish from spring to autumn along the edges and the drop-offs; the redfin through the year. PIRSA’s limits and any cod season apply.
Where to fish it
The designated shore fishing areas near the entrance and along the walking trail are the access, on foot, with kayaks launched where the program allows; the drop-off along the wall and the steep edges are where the natives hold. The hours and the areas are SA Water’s and are posted at the gate.
