Prices in CAD as the agency publishes them; residency categories, and whether tax is included, vary by province and are noted below. The prices on the fees page include GST; the anglers’ guide shows the same fees before GST. The annual licence runs from 1 May 2026 to 30 April 2027.
Exemptions. Manitoba residents 65 and over, Manitoba residents under 16, Manitoba resident active military and veterans, and Status Indians need no licence. Canadian and non-Canadian youth under 16 must fish with a licence holder or buy their own licence to keep their own limit.

Manitoba’s licence year runs from 1 May to 30 April, so a licence bought for the spring walleye opener covers the following winter’s ice fishing on Lake Winnipeg and the Red River.
Manitoba exempts more of its own residents than most provinces: seniors, children, active military and veterans who live in the province need no licence.
Canadians from other provinces and non-Canadians pay more, and their children under 16 fish under an adult’s licence unless they buy their own.
