Ohio is really two fisheries with one licence. Inland, the statewide table gives you limits and no season column at all. On Lake Erie, the same species are split into windows with different bag limits, announced each spring.
Every season we have verified in Ohio
One block per rule, because a single species can be on two calendars in the same state depending on the water. The band under each heading is the legal season; the row under it is what our own data says the fish are doing.
Bass — Inland waters, statewide
The statewide table publishes a limit and a size and no dates, and it applies to "all public waters in Ohio where site-specific regulations are not implemented". Lake Erie, the Ohio River and named waters run their own rules on top, and on Lake Erie bass does have a season with a one-fish, eighteen-inch window over the spawn.

Walleye — Inland waters, statewide
No statewide inland season. On Lake Erie the walleye daily limit is set each spring rather than fixed in rule, which is why Ohio publishes it as an announcement in late April instead of printing it in the digest.

Trout — Inland waters, statewide
Inland trout in Ohio is a stocked, put-and-take fishery rather than a seasonal one. Lake Erie trout and salmon run to two fish a day for most of the year and five between mid-May and the end of August.

What the water is doing while the season is open
This is the part an agency page will not tell you. The temperature row above is the seasonal curve we use for the 7 of 19 Ohio waters we track on a steelhead river profile, and it is why an opening date and a fishable date are not the same thing. A season that opens while the water is still in the forties is a legal invitation, not a biological one: the fish are there, they are just not eating on your schedule yet. Cross the legal band against the activity row before you book the day off.

Do I need a licence to fish in Ohio?
