A lake made by irrigation

Wyoming Game and Fish says Ocean Lake and the other waters of its habitat management area were created by the Riverton Reclamation Project in the early 1920s, formed by irrigation flows into a natural sump. The agency describes it as a warm-water lake with depths to 31 feet, set between the Owl Creek Mountains and the Wind River Range, and manages the 11,505-acre area around it mainly for waterfowl production.

Walleye by stocking

WGFD manages the lake for walleye by stocking about 320,000 fingerlings (2 to 3 inches) a year.
