Victor Harbor and Encounter Bay
Victor Harbor is the town of the southern Fleurieu Peninsula, on Encounter Bay, an hour south of Adelaide, with the causeway and the breakwater to Granite Island, the Bluff at Rosetta Head, the beaches from the town to Port Elliot and Middleton, and the Hindmarsh and Inman rivers running into the bay. It is a Southern Ocean bay with some shelter from the island and the Bluff, and it fishes from the causeway and the breakwater, the beaches and the rocks, and from boats over the reefs and the sand of the bay. Species and seasons
Australian salmon run the beaches and the Bluff in the cooler months and are the fish the Fleurieu is known for in winter; King George whiting fish the sand-and-weed of the bay from spring to autumn; squid work the weed off the causeway and the breakwater in spring and autumn; and tommy ruff, garfish and mullet are the everyday causeway fish.
