Alaska has more sport fishing regulation than any state in the country and the least useful printed version of it, for a reason the department states outright: the emergency order always wins.
Every season we have verified in Alaska
One block per rule, because a single species can be on two calendars in the same state depending on the water. The band under each heading is the legal season; the row under it is what our own data says the fish are doing.
Salmon — Statewide, by region and area
No date to look up. Seasons are set by regulation area and changed in-season by emergency order, which supersedes the published regulations.
ADF&G puts it plainly: "Emergency Orders (EOs) always supersede the published regulations", and tells anglers to "Check for current EOs & News Releases before finalizing your plans." The state is divided into five regions with area-specific rules nested inside each, and a river can close to king salmon mid-run when escapement looks short. A printed Alaska season date is a starting assumption, not a fact.
Trout — Statewide, by region and area
No date to look up. Set by drainage and area in the regional regulations, and subject to the same emergency orders.
Rainbow trout, Dolly Varden and Arctic char are managed drainage by drainage, with catch-and-release stretches, bait restrictions and closed periods that change between rivers a few miles apart. There is no statewide Alaska trout season to quote, and any page that gives you one has invented it.

What the water is doing while the season is open
This is the part an agency page will not tell you. The temperature row above is the seasonal curve we use for the 8 of 14 Alaska waters we track on a alaska river profile, and it is why an opening date and a fishable date are not the same thing. A season that opens while the water is still in the forties is a legal invitation, not a biological one: the fish are there, they are just not eating on your schedule yet. Cross the legal band against the activity row before you book the day off.
