The Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR) manages part of the privately owned Wahiawā Reservoir, also called Lake Wilson, in central Oahu as the Wahiawā Public Fishing Area under HAR 13-62. It is the only Oahu entry on DAR's list of public fishing areas; DAR notes that most other reservoirs in Hawaii are private and need the landowner's permission. Bass and tucunare are catch and release only and must go back in the water immediately; the oscar limit is 1. Fishing is by hook and line with one lure or baited hook, or two flies, per line: one line on weekends and holidays, two on other weekdays. Boats are for fishing only, 18 feet or shorter, at no more than 5 mph, and everyone needs a Coast Guard-approved life jacket. Keep 200 feet from the spillway dam and stay out of the Forest Reserve along the North Fork.
