Where you cannot fish

DAR's Hawaii Marine Laboratory Refuge covers the reefs and bay waters around Coconut Island (Moku o Loe), from the high-water mark out to 25 feet beyond the outer reef edges. Taking any aquatic life there is unlawful, except for University of Hawaii staff and students doing science.

Heeia Kea Wharf

At the wharf in Heeia Kea Boat Harbor, DAR allows fishing for legal-size fish in season with one line, or one rod and line, with no more than two hooks, and crabbing with up to 10 nets no more than two feet across. Any other fishing or taking of aquatic life at the wharf is prohibited.
