Sylvan Lake covers about 600 acres in Noble County, northeastern Indiana, in the glacial lake country that fills this corner of the state. It sits beside Rome City with developed shoreline and several connected basins, holding largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, yellow perch, channel catfish and northern pike.

Largemouth relate to the docks, seawalls, weed beds and wood along the developed shoreline and in the quieter basins, taken on plastics, jigs, spinnerbaits and topwater in low light. Noble County logistics

A public access serves the lake with additional access through the town of Rome City, and Kendallville and Fort Wayne provide services with Fort Wayne about 45 minutes south. Summer recreational traffic is significant on a developed lake this size, so fish early, late or midweek for the best results. The quieter connected basins away from the main body hold fish and see far less boat pressure through the season, which makes them worth the run when the main lake is busy.
