A water-supply lake in northwest Fort Worth

TPWD's 2024–25 survey report describes Eagle Mountain as an 8,504-acre impoundment built on the West Fork Trinity River by the Tarrant Regional Water District in 1932 for municipal and industrial supply: about 10 miles long, 3.5 miles across at its widest, with 93.5 miles of shoreline and a conservation pool of 649 feet. TPWD's lake page lists the maximum depth at 47 feet; the water is clear near the dam and stained in the upper end. Bridgeport Reservoir sits directly upstream on the West Fork.

Bass and the ShareLunker record

Largemouth numbers rose in the latest survey and Florida bass influence has grown. In March 2021 a 13.08-pound pure Florida largemouth set a lake record and went to the Toyota ShareLunker program, and in February 2022 a 16.00-pound fish set the current record, then ranked 33rd largest in Texas. TPWD stocked Lone Star Bass fingerlings, offspring of 13-pound-plus ShareLunkers, in 2025. Spotted bass catch rates also increased.
