The cutthroat rule

DWR's 2026 guidebook limits Strawberry to 4 trout or kokanee combined. No more than 2 may be cutthroat under 15 inches and no more than 1 a cutthroat over 22 inches; every cutthroat from 15 to 22 inches must be released at once. Any trout with cutthroat characteristics counts as a cutthroat, and DWR encourages anglers to release all cutthroat voluntarily.

DWR's stocking report for Strawberry Reservoir lists about 620,600 kokanee, 298,200 cutthroat and 146,200 rainbow trout released between March and September 2026.

Kokanee and closed tributaries

Kokanee may not be possessed anywhere in Utah from September 10 through November 30.
