Strawberry is Utah's flagship stillwater: Bear Lake-strain cutthroat grow past ten pounds on a managed chub base, kokanee run every fall, and the whole lake fishes: tubes over weed edges, ice cities in winter. Slot limits keep the giants swimming.

Cutthroat by regulation

Strawberry's slot limit engineered a trophy fishery: Bear Lake cutthroat under 15 or over 22 inches may be kept, so the 18-22 class teems. Tube jigs and spoons off the ladders and points produce 50-fish days when the schools push bait: Utah's flagship trout water by design.

Kokanee and the ice calendar

Summer kokanee troll at 30-60 ft out of Strawberry Bay (dodger-and-squid standard), turning scarlet by September. December ice caps the lake into April: the Soldier Creek basins and Chicken Creek flats become tent cities jigging tungsten for cutts and rainbows.

Reading the flats and ladders

Strawberry's structure is simple and reliable: huge weedy flats (Chicken Creek, the Meadows) where cutthroat herd minnows in 8-20 ft, and steep 'ladder' breaks off the Narrows where schools stage between feeding pushes.
