Barkers Creek Reservoir
Barkers Creek Reservoir is the small storage at Harcourt, between Castlemaine and Bendigo in central Victoria, a lake in granite country beside the orchards of the Harcourt valley. The VFA lists it among its specified lakes on the Murray cod page, and the Bureau of Meteorology’s gauge at the reservoir supplies the level and the 30-day chart on this page. Murray cod are the fish the VFA names for Barkers Creek Reservoir, and redfin are present too. The reservoir is in the Loddon basin, north of the Great Dividing Range and not on the VFA’s exempt list, so the Murray cod closed season, 1 September to 30 November, applies; the species card computes it.
Where to fish it
The banks around Barkers Creek Reservoir are reached from the roads at Harcourt, and anglers fish from the shore along the granite edges and the points.
