Summer steelhead in the gorge

ODFW's Northwest Zone report (Siletz section updated September 29, 2026) says most summer steelhead anglers fish the gorge upstream of Moonshine Park, where bank access is remote. ODFW recycled batches of summer steelhead to the lower river in May and June; those fish carry a colored tag at the base of the dorsal fin, and ODFW asks anglers to report the date, tag color and location of any they catch.

Fall Chinook and wild coho

In late September ODFW reported good Chinook fishing in the bay and tidewater. From August 1 to December 31 the wild Chinook limit is 2 adults a day and 10 for the season, within the overall daily limit. Wild coho may be kept from September 19 to November 7: 1 wild adult coho within the 2-adult limit, 3 per season from the Siletz basin and 5 per year across the Northwest and Southwest zones.

Closures and cutthroat

Resident and sea-run cutthroat trout are available, subject to bait and stream restrictions. Fishing is closed on the Siletz and its tributaries upstream of Siletz Falls, and the reach from about 1,200 feet above Ojalla Bridge to the Illahee boat ramp is closed to salmon angling until October 7, 2026.
