Enoggera Reservoir
Enoggera Reservoir is the nineteenth-century Brisbane storage in the forest beyond The Gap, at the edge of D’Aguilar National Park, a narrow lake between steep eucalypt ridges reached through the Walkabout Creek precinct and used for paddling and swimming. The Queensland Government added it to the stocked impoundment list as one of three new waters, and the Bureau of Meteorology’s gauge at the dam supplies the level and the 30-day chart on this page.
Species and seasons
Australian bass and Mary River cod are the species the Queensland Government lists as stocked at Enoggera. Bass are the fish to target, along the timbered edges and the steep banks on small lures and surface poppers at dawn and dusk; Mary River cod are a stocked, closely managed species and a rare catch. There is no closed season on bass in the reservoir, and the species card is scored for bass.
Where to fish it
The banks near the Walkabout Creek precinct and the picnic grounds are the shore access at Enoggera, and a kayak or a canoe, paddled from the launching area, reaches the arms and the steep timbered shores where the bass hold. The reservoir is narrow and shaded, and the far arms are the quiet water on a busy weekend.
