MDC rules: Blue Ribbon area (Greer Spring Branch to Turner Mill, 5.5 mi), 1 trout a day, 18-in. minimum, flies and artificial lures only, soft plastics and natural or scented baits prohibited for any species; White Ribbon area (14.2 mi below Turner Mill), 4 trout a day, no length limit on rainbows; walleye 18-in. minimum on the main stem and tributaries; from Thomasville to the Arkansas line, smallmouth 15-in. minimum and only 1 in the 6 black bass, goggle-eye 8-in. minimum. Porous-soled waders are prohibited in Oregon County.

MDC lists Thomasville, Cane Bluff, Greer, Turner Mill North, Turner Mill South and Whitten on the upper river, and Riverton (Hwy 160), the Narrows (Hwy 142) and Myrtle on the lower river. Motorboats are limited to 25 hp (rivers.gov).

A scenic river since 1968

Rivers.gov lists the Eleven Point among the eight original components of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System: 44.4 scenic miles from Thomasville down to State Highway 142, designated October 2, 1968 and managed by the Mark Twain National Forest. About half the land in the scenic river area is private and protected by scenic easements, where public entry is prohibited, so watch for the signs along the banks.

Smallmouth above Greer

MDC calls the 17 miles from Thomasville to Greer Spring excellent for smallmouth bass and goggle-eye (shadow bass), with spring sampling estimates of about 400-500 smallmouth per mile and over 10 percent of legal size. Spring is the time to float this upper reach, before low water means dragging over riffles; accesses are Thomasville, Cane Bluff and Greer.

Trout below Greer Spring

Greer Spring turns the river into a coldwater fishery. The next 5.5 miles to Turner Mill are an MDC Blue Ribbon Trout Area, stocked with about 8,000 rainbows a year to supplement wild fish; MDC's 2024 sample found about 83 wild trout per mile. The 14 miles from Turner Mill to Riverton (Highway 160) are a White Ribbon area, where 16,000 rainbows averaging 12 inches are stocked from March to October.

The lower river

Below Highway 160, the 13.5 miles to the Arkansas line hold smallmouth and goggle-eye, plus walleye that must be 18 inches; MDC stocked about 20,000 walleye fingerlings there in 2022 and planned the next stocking for 2026. Lower-river accesses are Riverton, the Narrows (Highway 142) and Myrtle.
