Two basins and a causeway

DEC describes Otisco as the most easterly of the eleven Finger Lakes and the eighth in size: 1,877 acres, 5.4 miles long, 15 miles of shoreline and 76 feet at its deepest, wholly within Onondaga County near Syracuse. A causeway at the south end splits it into two basins. The main lake averages 34 feet deep and is relatively clear, while the small southern basin averages 6 feet and is extremely turbid.

Tiger muskellunge

DEC calls tiger musky a unique trophy here and says Otisco may well be one of the best waters in the state for them. It stocks 11,000 every year, recently split between mid-August and late September releases, and tigers are most often caught in the weed beds at the north and south ends.
