Fishing Worden Pond: the full guide

Rhode Island's pike lake

Rhode Island's Division of Fish and Wildlife (DFW) began stocking northern pike in the early 1960s; it says no natural reproduction has been found in the state. Judging by survey and stocking data from Worden Pond, DFW says the program peaked between 1962 and 1992, then stopped for a few years from 1993. Since 2019 the pike have come as fry donated by New Jersey Fish and Wildlife and raised in a hatchery from March through June.

Stocking and surveys in 2025

In 2025 DFW stocked 2,167 pike of 2-4 inches and 783 of 7-8 inches in Worden Pond. The same year it restarted fyke-net surveys there, run soon after ice-out in February and March; one fish caught was a 37-inch female.

Pike limit

Rhode Island's 2026 freshwater rules allow two northern pike a day, each at least 24 inches long, with no closed season.
