Open all year except for a month-long closure from March 1 to April 2, when these waters are shut to all fishing while they are restocked. They reopen on the first Saturday in April — the closest thing the state has to an opening day.

From October 1 to the first Saturday in June these waters are catch-and-release with artificial lures only — no trout may be possessed. They open to harvest on the first Saturday in June, and from 6 a.m. to noon that morning the water is reserved for anglers under 16. From noon they run as Hatchery Supported until the end of September.

Wild Trout waters
No closed season, but artificial lures with a single hook only and no natural bait may even be in your possession. The size and limit are tighter than the stocked waters because these fish are reproducing on their own.

Wild Trout waters allow artificial lures with a single hook only and natural bait may not even be in your possession, which is a stricter rule than most visitors expect from a state with no closed season.
