Destin's nickname is geology: the 100-Fathom Curve swings closer to shore here than anywhere on the northern Gulf, putting deep water (and its fish) within a short run of East Pass. The charter fleet is Florida's largest for a reason: kings, snapper, grouper and billfish trips leave hourly in season, while the pass, jetties and surf feed the do-it-yourself crowd.
